Carter’s Sports Cresting Funspiel

The annual Year-End Mixed Curling Funspiel, sponsored by Carter’s Sports Cresting, was held last weekend (March 22 and 23) here at the Amherst Curling Club.

Twelve teams entered the draw this year with the Peter Rushton’s team defeating the Ray Fowler team in the Championship round.

The A division winner was Dan Jolly over Ron Davis.

The B division winner was Paul Hawkes over Robin Keith.

Carter’s Sports Cresting Bonspiel

The annual Year-End Mixed Curling Bonspiel, sponsored by Carter’s Sports Cresting, will take place March 22 23, & 24th at the Amherst Curling Club.

Six end games, open mixed format, everyone is welcome.

The First Draw starts Friday evening with entertainment Friday till closing.

The kitchen will be open for the afternoon on Saturday and everyone is welcome to drop by and enjoy the action and entertainment.

 

 

The Amherst Curling Club will be hosting the Nova Scotia Woman’s Curling Club Provincial Championship Feb 28 to Mar 3, 2019.

9 teams will be starting the triple knock-out competition at 2:00 PM Thursday with 3 draws each day until the Final game at 2:00 PM on Sunday afternoon.The winner of this event will represent Nova Scotia at the National Championship in November 2019.

The Teams are from New Glasgow, Truro, Halifax (3), Dartmouth, Windsor, Sydney and Amherst.

The Amherst team is made up of Skip Kathleen Trites, 3rd Tiffany Cuthbert, 2nd Lisa Gilbert and lead Wendy Graham.

The public is welcome to come to the Club at 45 Prince Arthur St. and watch some great curling. You can also follow along online through the NSCA Scoreboard.

Open House

Thanks to Chris Manuge for a job well done with organizing the Open House this year. Some new and many familiar faces were greeted by a group of friendly volunteers.

US Ladies Tour

Rhonda and Alice deserve a round of applause for hosting this terrific event. New friendships were made and both members and visitors provided some entertainment to spread good cheer.

Great stocking stuffer idea! The sale of tickets supports Junior Curling. The draw is January 10, 2019 so time is getting short to sell the
remainder of tickets. Brian would appreciate your ticket stubs and cash ASAP.

Christmas Tree Gift Tags

The tree is decorated with Christmas tags with suggested gift ideas for the curling club. Your thoughtfulness is much appreciated.

Food Establishment Chairperson

We are looking for someone to take on this responsibility. Below is a description of this position. Please contact a board member if you are willing to do this task.

Duties of ACC Food Establishment Chairperson

  • Be the contact person for NS Environment Inspection, Compliance and Enforcement.
  • Complete the annual inspection renewal form every February. Display the Food Establishment Decal in a prominent
    place. (Expires on March 31 annually.)
  • Oversee and delegate cleanliness of the kitchen.
  • Ensure Health and Safety regulations are known and followed.
  • Send concerns to the ACC Board of Directors.
  • Keep a list of members with a valid food hygiene certificate.

From there, login and create your curler profile.  After that, you can purchase memberships and lockers from the “products” page, and sign up for leagues from the “leagues” page.

Several curler profiles can be managed from one email account, making it convenient for youth and family curlers.
