Grey Cup of Curling

Did you know there is a Grey Cup of Curling that is 2 years older than the CFL Grey Cup?

In 1907 the Governor General Earl Grey presented the curlers of Amherst a Grey Cup for the first Maritime Curling Bonspiel. Two years later, in 1909, he presented the Canadian Rugby Union with a Grey Cup, the same famous trophy that is now used by the Canadian Football League (CFL).

2018 Grey Cup of Curling

The 2018 Grey Cup of Curling will take place at the Amherst Curling Club January 12-13-14.

3 Games minimum guaranteed

Maximum of 24 teams with an Open Format (any combination of players accepted)

Registration deadline is January 5, 2018 and includes Banquet, snacks and entertainment.

Winners receive cash prizes (a minimum of $3200 will be given away), plus the winning team will get their names engraved on to the original Grey Cup.

2017 Grey Cup of Curling

Last year the Amherst Curling Club decided to bring back the Grey Cup and started a new tradition with the Grey Cup of Curling Cashpiel. The 2017 Grey Cup of Curling will take place at the Amherst Curling Club January 13-14-15. 3 Games minimum guaranteed.

Registration deadline is January 6, 2017 and includes Banquet, snacks and entertainment.

Winners receive cash prizes and have their names engraved on to the original Grey Cup.

Amherst Grey Cup of CurlingYou may remember back in 2012, TSN made a visit to Amherst because of our Grey Cup..  the ‘original’ Grey Cup. This cup was presented to the Amherst Curling Club by Governor General Earl Grey for the first Maritime Curling Bonspiel in 1907, two years BEFORE the famous Grey Cup that is now a CFL trophy.
